Los Altos

Originally an agricultural town with many summer cottages and apricot orchards, Los Altos is now an affluent residential town on the western edge of Silicon Valley, serving as a major source of commuters to other parts of Silicon Valley. Conveying a village atmosphere of small-town America, its tree lined downtown streets are lush with green in the summer and vibrantly colorful in the fall, and their intimate six-block downtown triangle offers anything you need to shop for, including a unique array of restaurants and convenient free parking areas.

DID YOU KNOW?

In 1976, Apple co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak built the first 50 Apple I computers in Jobs’s garage in Los Altos.

A little bit of Trivia: Alain Pinel Realors (before it was acquired by Compass and where I first started my career as a Realtor) was the first Real Estate Brokerage company to provide desktop computers to its agents.

HOUSING and REAL ESTATE CURRENT MARKET

Los Altos strives to maintain a semi-rural atmosphere. Most streets have broad dirt shoulders and little or no street lighting. Many Los Altos homes fetch $2 million and higher, putting the city (along with neighboring Los Altos Hills) on Forbes' "Most Expensive ZIP Codes in America" list.

Los Altos' tranquil neighborhoods host beautiful and spacious contemporary homes and remodeled mid-century gems with spacious front and back gardens. Most of them are within walking distance from the downtown area making it an ideal choice for those who want to enjoy the quiet while staying close to entertainment options.
