Hillsborough

Located 17 miles south of San Francisco Hillsborough is bordered by Burlingame to the north, San Mateo to the east, Highlands-Baywood Park to the south, and Interstate 280 to the west. Renowned for its wealth, Hillsborough prides itself on lovely winding roads (lined with Pines, Redwoods and Eucalyptus), lush landscaping and gorgeous multi-million-dollar mansions. With just some 16 square kilometers of territory, Hillsborough is nearly a 100% residential city meaning it has no commercial zones. The biggest community event of the year is the Concourse d’Elegance, an exhibit of vintage antique automobiles.

DID YOU KNOW?

The “Flintstone House'' is one of the most photographed houses in the San Francisco Bay Area. This residence presents a structure recalling vividly the Stone Age dwelling in the popular animated cartoon series The Flintstones. Designed by architect William Nicholson it was built around 1976. He used an unorthodox construction technique in this project, spraying concrete over balloon-shaped wire foundations to achieve that Flintstone House look. This unique house can be seen to the east from the Doran Memorial Bridge and Interstate 280.
