Portola Valley

Portola Valley is a small, quiet and wealthy community nestled on the eastern slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is known for its expansive trail network both maintained by the town and also in the Windy Hill Open Space Preserve, scenic roads, open spaces and natural views. Alpine Road and Portola Road are the two relatively main roads in the town and their intersection forms a small shopping nexus.

DID YOU KNOW?

Portola Valley was named for Spanish explorer Gaspar de Portolá, who led the first party of Europeans to explore the San Francisco Peninsula in 1769.

HOUSING and REAL ESTATE CURRENT MARKET

With some of the most expensive real estate and highest household incomes, homes in Portola Valley range from grand estates on flat lots to rustic “cabins” located high in the hills. The town’s architectural guidelines ensure that the rural quality of the area will be conserved, and that homes will be gracefully integrated with their surroundings.
